About Biochemistry

Department of Biochemistry/Clinical Biochemistry is at the heart of this institute and provides a feather to the institute by offering tremendous potential in basic as well as medical and applied sciences. Course curriculum is aligned with education, research, training, dissertation and innovation to warrant efficient addressal of societal needs and at same time ensuring employment of skilled graduates for nation building. This learning would develop their reasoning power and train them for career in research as well as to qualify various national and international level examinations. Students have opportunity to present innovative research proposal and clinical work in the department research/training activity. This will provide training to students to acquire scientific skills and personality development. The department also envisions extending in the field of biochemical broad areas which includes Enzymology, Proteomics, Recombinant DNA technology, Drug Discovery, Host -pathogen interaction, antimicrobial resistance, plant tissue culture, Spawn mushroom cultivation and Vermi compost production etc.

The department is boosted by highly qualified talented faculties with PhD training from prestigious Institutions/Universities like Banaras Hindu University, Central University of Rajasthan, GB Pant University and HNBGU. The research activity of the department has been supported by various funding agencies (i.e., UCOST, USERC, Government of Uttarakhand). The bachelor and master students of the department have been qualified various national level examination. Our laboratory is equipped with various instruments and techniques needed for the medical and applied research which includes centrifuge, incubator, spectrophotometer, deep fridge, Laminar hoods, Biochemical analyser, PCR, bacterial cell culture, Plant tissue culture and bioinformatics work. In brief, students are equipped with highly advanced research-oriented learning through a well-designed course curriculum and teachings given by exceptionally qualified and committed faculty trained in reputed national and international institutes. Faculty members having diverse research and teaching expertise both in basic and medical field. Research based training along with research publications supported by well-established faculty laboratories enriched with extramural funding promotes students to get opportunity for higher studies in various reputed national and international institutes.
